Luna Women's Safe House

Safe Women's House was established in 2017, thanks to the support of a grant from the Kingdom of Norway through the Norwegian Financial Mechanism and the State Budget of the Slovak Republic.
Safe Women's House is an emergency housing facility within the meaning of Act No. 448/2008 Coll. on social services, where our professional team provides women experiencing violence and their children with crisis intervention, social counselling, psychological counselling and assistance in exercising their rights and legally protected interests. BJD provides accommodation for a certain period of time, necessary to provide crisis intervention, protection and support.

Social counselling focuses on help and support in the areas of safety, health, work, finances, parenting skills and housing. We support women in regaining
self-esteem and strengthen the principle of self-help through individual counselling and regular social and psychological communities, where we train and develop emotional and social competences - self-knowledge, self-esteem, self-respect, self-acceptance, assertiveness, communication, conflict resolution, etc. The women and their children have the opportunity, in accordance with their needs, to realize themselves in various activities such as exercising, working in the garden, landscaping, cooking, baking, sewing, making seasonal decorations, etc.

Psychological counselling is aimed at alleviating the trauma caused by long-term domestic violence - working with fear, anxiety, assertiveness training, alleviating psychological problems on physical health, etc.

In cooperation with professional staff, mothers were also provided with counselling aimed at improving parenting skills, strengthening the parental relationship and creating a safe home space for the emotional development of children.

The special educator together with the mothers through individual consultations also focused on educational problems, problems related to learning, in counselling she also focuses on education in the case of a child with special educational needs.

Women interested in BJD services are recruited through the LUNA Intervention Centre.
